Public entity profile badges

Public entity profile badges show on conversations, comments, and profiles. They also change some of the UI and settings such as using the Café Lounge notifications tool by default. You can read more about that over at Creator Tools.

How do accounts get the badges?

Only staff can grant a badge to an account, and we only do so for proven public entities such as musicians, Youtubers, and other creators. This is not something that will be given to everyone, but to accounts that can be subject to impersonation.

We verify details by checking information such as the email used for the account. If it's a known public contact for the content creator or business, we will grant the badge. We also tend to add the verified check mark to accounts like this by default.

What account types are there?

The current types are creator, for content creators, and business. There are also some account badges like robot, news, and alerts, that do not count for this and are only applied for on-site sorting or granting certain posting privileges. Can I get this badge or apply?

Generally...no. This is something we apply at our discretion based on accounts with a larger social footprint and those more susceptible to impersonation. Content creators get a harsher limit or business, and it will not be applied to every type of account that makes content and art. We also will not apply this tag to users who change identities or use inconsistent branding across platforms.
