RSS import rules and variables

RSS importing allows you to link to an RSS feed, and it will automatically post new items to your account or to a café that gives you access to posting.

To setup, go to your account settings and click "RSS Import". Inside this section, click "Create new RSS import rule" and you will be given a dialog asking for the URL. Once created, you can change the layout of the posts and have access to other settings. We will cut the size of the post to match your account's character limit; the character limit is 460 by default or 4500 with PRO. If the link is important and the description will be long, choose to the use the title and the link to show important content.

Variables

If content for a variable can't be found, it will not be included in the post. Images are not always consistent across feeds, and they should only be used if they will work for your use.

Article title: [title]

Article description: [description]

Article link: [link]

Article image: [image]

Images will only be linked and not upload to Hey.Café. If the image URL does not end with an image file extension, it will not render will try to post a website preview instead.

Special Rules

We provide some other special rules that can be added.

Only share link if it does NOT contain a specific string: [description] [linkonly:if:not:benjancewicz]

Do not share if this string is found anywhere in the new conversation (runs last): [description] [link] [nopost:if:badstring]
