Installing the Android app via APK

Installing using an APK (Android Package) allows you to install apps that are not available from the Google Play Store. However, doing this bypasses standard security checks. We are providing this due to requests we have had for the APK file. We recommend using the Google Play version of the application if you have access to the Play Store.

How to Install an APK on Android

The process varies slightly depending on your Android version, but generally follows these steps:

1. Download the APK using a browser like Chrome on your device.
2. Enable "Install Unknown Apps":
   • Open Settings > Apps > Special app access.
   • Tap "Install unknown apps".
   • Select the app you used to download the file (e.g., Chrome), or your File Manager, and toggle "Allow from this source" to On.
3. Disable "Auto Blocker" (Samsung devices). If you have a Samsung Galaxy, navigate to Settings > Security and privacy and ensure Auto Blocker is turned Off as it may prevent APK installations.
4. Locate and Install:
   • Open your File Manager (e.g., "Files by Google" or "My Files").
   • Go to the Downloads folder and tap the APK file.
   • Follow the on-screen prompts and select Install.

Changes

• V3: Added option so users can share videos also if they want not just photos in conversations. Also fixed a few random bug fixes related to app launching.
• V4: Fixed image selection on older devices using Android 15.
• V5: Fixed it so on device rotation the application no longer restarts.
• V6: Internal testing release to fix some code values.
• V7: Added multi image support for the image picker, and fixed a bug related to image uploading. Also added support from small conversation box to upload multiple images at once.

⚠️ Warning: Risks of Using APKs

Installing apps from unknown sources can expose your device to several critical issues:

• No Automatic Updates: Sideloaded apps do not receive security patches or updates from the Play Store which may leave them vulnerable to new exploits.
